RPS Hawk 250 and Raven BSR 250 parts

This page collects the parts we list for the RPS Hawk 250 and the Raven BSR 250, carbureted dirt bikes sold as 250s. Both have a 229cc engine with a 67 x 65 mm bore and stroke. See also our RPS Hawk 250 Carb and DLX and Cougar Cycle Raven BSR 250cc pages.

Hawk, Raven or another 250?

No maker or dealer document we found says the Hawk 250 and the Raven BSR 250 are the same machine. X-PRO says its Hawk 250 is produced by Hensim-Haosen; the Raven's parts catalog comes from Chongqing Bashan Motorcycle Manufacturing.

  • RPS Hawk 250: the Ricky Power Sports owner's manual lists 80/100-21 front and 110/100-18 rear tires in its spec table. X-PRO sells it as model DB-W002 (also coded HS250Y-A) and links the same manual.
  • Raven BSR 250cc, model BS250: Cougar Cycle lists 90/90-19 front and 110/90-17 rear tires, for 19 and 17 inch wheels, as does Apollo Motorcycles for its Raven 250cc BS250. Bashan's BSR250 manual, which Cougar links, also lists 80/100-21 front and 110/100-18 rear, so check your tire sidewall.
  • Raven BSR 250cc XL, model BS250 XL: Cougar Cycle and Vitacci (as the DB-Raven 250cc XL) list 3.00-21 front and 4.60-18 rear tires, the same 21 and 18 inch rim diameters as the Hawk.
  • Hawk DLX 250 EFI: X-PRO's DLX (model DB-W020) is fuel injected, with 3.00-21 and 4.10-18 tires. X-PRO sells separate DLX and carbureted Hawk gas tanks, handlebar switches, brake discs, brake assemblies and wheels, and gives the DLX its own clutch, throttle cable and wire harness part numbers. On a DLX, text us a photo before ordering.
  • Apollo DB-36: three of our wheel listings name it, but Apollo's 2011 DB-36 parts list shows a 530 rear sprocket (the Hawk runs a 428 chain), a 240 mm rear disc and an M24 x 1.5 rear axle. Do not order our Hawk wheels for a DB-36 without texting us a photo first.

Reading a tire size: in 110/100-18, 110 is the width in millimeters, 100 is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width, and 18 is the rim diameter in inches. In inch sizes like 3.00-21, the width is in inches and the last number is still the rim diameter in inches. To order parts, the Hawk manual says you may need the frame number (on a plate on the left side of the front forks) and the engine number (left side of the crankcase).

We also list some of these parts for the Dong Fang DF250RTT and DF250RTS and the XMoto X88, but we have no maker or dealer document for them, so we cannot say how they compare.

Hawk figures come from the Ricky Power Sports manual and X-PRO, and Raven engine, tire and brake figures from Cougar Cycle. Cougar gives no fuel system, spark plug or chain size, so the Raven fuel system and plug come from the Bashan BSR250 manual and parts catalog Cougar links; that manual also covers 150cc and 200cc versions. Not listed means no source we found gives it.

Parts listed for these bikes

Every part below is listed for these bikes in our catalog, but we have not confirmed the fit of any of them yet, so compare any part with your old one before ordering. Here, Hawk means the carbureted Hawk 250; on a DLX, see the note above.

  • Hawk and Raven: listed for both bikes.
  • Raven: listed for the Cougar Cycle Raven BSR 250cc, Cougar's name for its standard model, but not under the RPS Hawk 250 in our catalog. Take extra care with these on a Hawk or an XL.
  • Also listed: general-fit parts whose listings cover a range of machines.

Wheels, tires and brakes

Our 21 inch front wheel listings give no axle, hub or disc size, and our 18 inch rear wheel listings leave the sprocket and rotor sizes blank. A Hawk runs a 428 chain. Before ordering a wheel, text us a photo of your old wheel showing the axle, rotor and sprocket. The Hawk manual gives 65 ft-lb (88 Nm) for the rear axle nut.

Buyer questions

Will your 21 and 18 inch wheels fit my Raven?

Go by your tire sidewall. Cougar Cycle lists the standard Raven BSR 250cc with 90/90-19 front and 110/90-17 rear tires, which take 19 and 17 inch rims, not our 21 and 18 inch wheels. Bashan's BSR250 manual, which Cougar links, also lists 80/100-21 front and 110/100-18 rear, so check the last number on yours. The XL's 3.00-21 and 4.60-18 tires use our wheels' rim diameters; on an XL, text us a photo of your old wheel before ordering.

Which rear sprocket does a Hawk 250 take?

X-PRO sells the genuine Hawk 250 rear sprocket as "428-50" and the chain as 428H, 130 links; its sprocket page gives no tooth count, bolt pattern or center hole. Ours is a 428 with 46 teeth. Count the teeth on your old sprocket and text us a photo of it so we can check the bolt holes and center hole before you order.

What tires and pressures does a Hawk 250 use?

The manual's spec table lists 80/100-21 front at 32 psi and 110/100-18 rear at 40 psi, cold, and X-PRO's spec page gives the same sizes. The manual's tire page prints the front as 80/110-21 and says to replace tires with the same size, load range and speed rating.

  • Our front wheel comes with a 3.00-21 tire, not the manual's 80/100-21. X-PRO lists 3.00-21 for its Hawk DLX.
  • Our 18 inch rear wheel listings say they use a 110/90-18 tire. That is not the manual's 110/100-18: its sidewall is lower, 90 percent of the width instead of 100. For the manual's size, fit a 110/100-18.
